The capital of Scotland is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Edinburgh is home of the biggest arts event in Europe the Edinburgh Festival as well as the largest celebration of the New Year's Eve, the Hogmanay. The old Town as well as the New Town part of the city were awarded in 1995 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. - Edinburgh Castle: Edinburgh skyline is dominated by the castle. - Edinburgh Zoo: located in the North of Edinburgh the Zoo is home for over 1.000 animals and is well known for the promotion and conservation of animal species and Wild life. The Zoo's attractions include the only Koala and polar bear in Britain, Indian Rhinoceroses, Asian Lions, Sumatran Tigers and a large collection of penguins.
- The Royal Mile: Comprising four different streets the Royal Mile runs down from Edinburgh Castle to the palace of Solyroodhouse. Along the Mile there are a succession of attractions, interesting buildings and a variety of bars and restaurants.

To and from the airport
By Taxi
The journey from the airport to central Edinburgh takes around 25 minutes. There is a taxi rank outside the terminal. Taxi bookings are managed by Onward travel on +44 (0) 131 333 2255. During peak times calling ahead can save you a long wait.
By Bus
Frequent bus services run from the bus station outside Domestic Arrivals to the central Edinburgh bus terminus at Waverley Bridge, also stopping at Edinburgh Haymarket rail station. There is a night-bus from the airport to the city centre. There are also several coaches available from the airport to central Edinburgh. By Train
There are no direct trains to Edinburgh airport although the tram link that is currently being built shall be there in a few years. If travelling by train you can go to one of the main Edinburgh train stations and then catch a bus from there.
By Car
The airport is located west of Edinburgh City centre and the entrance can be reached from the A8 Glasgow Road and is close to the M8 and M9 motorways. There is short and long-term parking available at the airport.
