London City Info

London is the capital city of England and one of the main epicentres of Western Europe. The city is also the largest urban zone in the European Union and sits on the Eastern side of England directly on the River Thames. The city is famed for its diverse, multicultural population, its buzzing West End theatre District and its rich history as well as countless historical monuments, museums, galleries and restaurants.   • London Shopping: Shopping in London is arguably the best in Europe. Whether you are looking for high fashion, high street or small, unique markets, London can accommodate. From Oxford Street, Regent Street, Covent Garden, Knightsbridge to Spitalfields and Portobello Road, London is packed full of clothing from every avenue of world fashion and culture. Shopping in London is worth a trip on its own.
  • Museums: If you fancy a break from the non-stop shopping, theatres, restaurants and other indulgences of London, you won't have to look far to find a little piece of history. Airport Info

London has a number of international airports that service the city and wider country. Gatwick Airport and Heathrow International are the main airports around London however Stansted, Luton and London City are also major airports that make travelling to London extremely easy. Between them more than 175 million passengers travel through the system per year, making London and its surrounding airports the busiest airport system in the world. Heathrow Terminal 5 is the newest and most developed terminals in London, opening in 2008 contributes to a site occupying over 12 square kilometres.

London Heathrow Airport is located 12 miles west of Central London

Facilities
Both major airports in London offer business lounges, Wi-Fi, restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and more across their vast departure and arrival terminals. The airports also have car parking, car hire services, disabled access and all other necessary amenities for making your travel to and from London as hassle free as possible. The newest terminal at Heathrow also has restaurants from leading chains and chefs such as Wagamamas and Gordon Ramsey which make visits an enjoyable experience.

To and from the airport

By Taxi
Bother terminals have taxi ranks outside of the major arrival terminals which can quickly give you access to London City centre. A taxi from Gatwick Airport into Central London will cost roughly £50-60, whereas a taxi from Heathrow into Central London will cost around £40.

By Bus
Buses are available from both Heathrow and Gatwick and take between 45-75 minutes to get passengers into the city centre. The more favourable modes of transport are the Heathrow and Gatwick Express which offer regular rail services into the major London tube and rail destinations. The trains take under £30 minutes and can be caught from terminals within both airports.

By Car
Car hire services are available from both airports and can be booked in advance or from within the terminal building. Travelling by car into Central London from Gatwick, take the M23 onto the M25 which will lead you northbound into the city from the south. From Heathrow travel northbound onto the M4 and follow the Motorway into West London over the West London fly over and into Chiswick.
